About me and my practice

An Integrative Approach

I believe that valuing you as an individual is essential in your counselling experience. I follow an integrative approach to counselling and psychotherapy, which involves working with theories and techniques from many theoretical models including person centred, psychodynamic, and humanistic theories. I use these to identify what is important to you on a daily basis, whilst also recognising that there are times when past experiences may have affected you, with both playing a part in who you are today.

Working with Young People.

Teenage years can be a particularly challenging time, as young people navigate a complex mix of developmental, physical, and emotional changes. On top of this, the expectations and pressures from society can feel overwhelming, often leading to unrealistic demands that are hard to meet.

For some, neurodiversity can further complicate this period, leading to confusion, loss of identity, and difficulty in expressing or understanding emotions. It may be difficult for both you and your child to make sense of this time or know how best to offer support, and thats where I come in. Im here to help guide you through these challenges.

Together, we can work on:

Exploring strategies to manage emotions, anxiety, and stress;

Improving communication and understanding within the family;

Helping your child build confidence and embrace their unique strengths and talents;

Developing coping mechanisms for navigating social pressures and self-esteem issues;

Supporting you in building a strong, supportive relationship with your child during these formative years.
